1. The Arabian leopard expanded its range in the Dhofar region of Oman
The Arabian leopard (Panthera pardus nimr) is one of the rarest and most endangered leopards in the world. Its numbers are very low in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Dhofar is a mountainous region in Oman, where the leopard used to be found, but now its presence has increased. This is positive for biodiversity, as it will maintain the balance of the ecosystem.

2. US President Trump bans paper straws in favor of plastic
Former US President Donald Trump advocated plastic straws instead of environmentally friendly paper straws. They claimed that plastic straws are more durable and easy to use, while paper straws dissolve quickly and cause problems for users. The decision came as a shock to environmental activists, as plastic pollution is a major issue these days.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched a major climate change initiative in Somalia. 5. Operation Devil Hunt: 1,300 people arrested in Bangladesh
The government of Bangladesh launched a massive campaign against violence and criminal activity across the country, dubbed Operation Devil Hunt. More than 1,300 people were arrested under this campaign. This action was taken to prevent the growing crime trend in the country and to maintain law and order.

7. ‘Nodi Bandhan’ scheme launched to prevent river erosion in West Bengal
West Bengal Government has launched ‘Nodi Bandhan’ scheme against river bank erosion. Land along the banks of the Ganga tributaries and other rivers is rapidly being washed away, threatening many villages. The scheme will protect the people by constructing embankments and protective measures along the riverbanks.
7. पश्चिम बंगाल में नदी कटाव को रोकने के लिए ‘नोदी बंधन’ योजना शुरू की गई
